Jetlag
You almost cannot help having jetlag; think about it:
you are in Sydney in the middle of summer, thirty plus hours later you
find yourself in Copenhagen in the middle of a snow storm and some
gorgeous blonde is offering you lunch while your watch -and your body-
are telling you it's bed time.
How to minimise jetlag
You know how bears cope with a huge change of weather: they hibernate. So, the best way to help minimise the trauma is also to go to sleep. If you slow down your metabolic rate during the trip it will help diminish the shock.
So how do you do that?
Before you leave go to your doctor and get some sleeping pills. What? a naturopath asking me to take drugs? Relax! Travelling throug time and seasons is not exactly natural, so a little pill or two will not cause any problems.
Don't eat much. Unless you're travelling first class, the food is really not worth bothering anyway; bring some fruit with you and eat fruit, that will help keep your gut working as well, since the inactivity affects many people.
Watch out with the drinking! What! no drinking as well? Of course a little drink here and there might help you with the sleeping side of things but you will feel much worse when you get back on terra firma.
Use the sleeping pills for a day or two when you have reached your destination, of course do it for the night time of where you are . This also will help your body adapt to the local time.
Get some accupuncture when you get there. I have patients who sometimes book their appointment from overseas when they come back. The acupuncture has a wonderful way to iron out all these kinks.
